Swirltastic

Last year while I was sitting in my Art History class, I found myself drawing swirls all over my notebook. Granted, I should have been paying attention to the art of the Easter Islands, or whatever it was we were learning, but I found myself obsessed with drawing swirls. This past semester, I had a wonderful printmaking teacher who gave us a lot of room to bring out own artistic visions to the projects we were doing. Around the second or third project of the semester, we got to make stamps and one of the first thoughts that came to my mind was swirls.
See I told you I was obsessed.
I guess what I like about the design is how the swirls flow together in a dynamic sort of way while maintaining a minimal style. Which is what I’m all about.
Who could forget about Robert Smithson’s earthwork sculpture at the Great Salt Lake? It’s a huge swirl (spiral)!
Oh and for all those interested – the swirls didn’t impede my learning ability. I made an A in Art History. Perhaps it was the power of the swirls.
